In this stamp the texture around the curl on the right hand side within the ring around the oval has gone blotchy. Strange. Maybe a chemical reaction? It is happening elsewhere within the oval ring as well but is not as pronounced.
This blog by Dr Jeremy is devoted to the 1st Queensland sideface stamps (1878/9-1881), a fascinating aspect of Queensland philately. It is a work in progress and aims for comprehensiveness. There were five issues, 1d reddish brown / scarlet, 2d blue, 4d yellow, 6d green and 1 shilling violet / lilac, also a 1d overprint and 1d stamp duty. The stamps come from my and other collections, Ebay, Queensland Stamp Collecting Facebook Group, Stampboards.com & auctions. Contact:jeremy2929@gmail.com.
