This blog by Dr Jeremy is devoted to the 1st Queensland sideface stamps (1878/9-1881), a fascinating aspect of Queensland philately. It is a work in progress and aims for comprehensiveness. There were five issues, 1d reddish brown / scarlet, 2d blue, 4d yellow, 6d green and 1 shilling violet / lilac, also a 1d overprint and 1d stamp duty. Queensland 1st Sideface late usage
Here is a very late usage of a Queensland 1st sideface. These stamps were replaced by the 2nd sideface 4d. yellow on 18 April 1883, but this stamp is dated Rockhampton, 26 April 1887. Intriguing.
